Eligibility
- Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
- Typically 60% aggregate in PCM
- Typically 50% in English (Class 10 or 12)
- Unaided 6/6 vision, no colour blindness
- Age generally 17–25 years
Advantages
- Fastest route to sea and to a salary
- Most heavily sponsored course in the industry
- You are earning while your school friends are still in second year
Trade-offs
- Strictest eyesight standard of all the routes
- Almost always requires a company sponsorship to be worth taking
- Diploma, not a degree — matters if you later want a shore career
Best if: You have 6/6 unaided vision, strong PCM marks and you want to start earning as early as possible.
