About the academy
Built by seafarers. Guided by experience.

Capt. Siddharth Saxena
Founder & Program Director
The founder
From Cadet to Captain. Over 25 years at sea.
Capt. Siddharth Saxena began exactly where you are now — a student with a plan to go to sea and very little reliable information about how. Over the next 25 years he worked his way from Deck Cadet to attaining Captain's License, sailed on vessels across the world's major trade routes.
He has sailed Car Carriers, Bulk Carriers, Ro-Ro ships, Reefers and Container vessels with leading companies including Wilhelmsen, Anglo-Eastern, Crowley, Fleet Management and Amer Shipping. That means hands-on experience in ship operations, crew leadership, dry docks, safety management and the kind of real maritime decision-making that no textbook covers.
He also served as Faculty and Course Coordinator at a DG Approved Maritime Training Institute, where he mentored and trained hundreds of students — and where he first saw, at scale, how much talent gets lost to bad guidance.

His mission
He understands the problems fresh aspirants face: no proper guidance for IMU CET, no clarity on sponsorships, no preparation for interviews, and a great deal of confusion about what life at sea is actually like.
He has watched capable students take the wrong course, pay the wrong institute, miss a medical requirement nobody told them about, or walk into a company interview with no idea what would be asked.
That is why he started Sagar Path Academy — to give freshers practical, step-by-step guidance from someone who has already walked the same path.
Real Guidance. From Someone Who Understands Student's Problems.
How we work
Four rules we do not break.
Guidance before selling
Counselling comes first, courses come fourth. If a student does not need a course, we say so. A ₹150 conversation that saves someone a wasted year is worth more to us than a fee we should not have taken.
No guarantees we cannot keep
We do not guarantee ranks, sponsorships or jobs, because those are decided by IMU and by shipping companies — not by us. Anyone who guarantees them is either misleading you or charging for something they do not control.
Taught only by people who have sailed
Every mentor on our panel is a serving or ex-serving Captain, Chief Engineer or Officer. Two of them were our students first, and came back to teach.
Parents are part of the decision
A career at sea takes a young person away from home for months. Parents deserve to sit in the room, ask hard questions and get answers in plain language.
How it started
From a problem seen at sea to an academy on land.
- 1
The problem
Hundreds of capable students taking the wrong course, paying the wrong institute, or discovering a medical disqualification a year too late — because nobody with real sea experience was advising them.
- 2
The decision
After 25 years at sea and a stint as Faculty and Course Coordinator at a DG Approved Maritime Training Institute, Capt. Siddharth Saxena decided the guidance gap was the thing worth fixing.
- 3
The academy
Sagar Path Academy was built in Jaipur around one rule: an honest conversation before any course is sold. Courses, mock tests and interview training came after that principle, not before it.
- 4
The mentors
Serving Captains and Chief Engineers from Synergy, EPS, V.Ships, Maersk, Fleet Management, Amer Shipping and AG Maritime joined the panel — including two former students now sailing as officers.
- 5
Now
The Founding Batch for September 2026 to May 2027 is open, capped at 50 students on the flagship course, with lifetime career mentorship included in every course.
Built by seafarers
Every mentor has actually sailed. No career counsellors who have only read about ships.
Guidance before selling
Counselling comes first. We will tell you if a course is not right for you.
No false promises
We do not guarantee ranks, sponsorships or jobs. Anyone who does is selling you something.
Parents included
Parents sit in the counselling session and get answers in plain language.
